'Baraka' is a movie with a strong message, or 'feeling', but no words.
The word baraka is an ancient word that means 'blessing of life'.
The movie is about the relationship between humankind and the Earth.
In the movie, there are many religious rituals from all over the world.
The movie also shows ordinary people from both modern societies and primitive cultures.
There are scenes of life in both rich countries and poor ones,
and all throughout the movie, there are beautiful pictures of nature.
People have many different opinions about what the message of the movie is.
  What is your opinion?

Dear Mr. Walsh,
The movie 'Baraka' was very difficult for me to understand, but it made me think about a lot of things.

First of all, it made me feel glad to be alive on this Earth. It also made me think about religion. I wondered "Who is God?" and "Why does everybody do rituals?" I think  that we create religions because they are necessary for us. It is naturally part of us as humans. The Kecak dance was very powerful. It's the power of the human spirit.

The next thing the movie made me think about was nature. I was impressed by the size of nature. Nature is so huge. Humanity's relationship with the Earth is so deep. Many cultures in the world are so different, but we are all just a small part of nature. We are all nature's children. There is only one Earth and it is our home. If we destroy nature, there is no turning back. We must do something to protect the Earth. We must respect nature. We also must help other humans. Rich people should help poor people.

I also thought about the many different cultures in the world. It is important to protect each culture's uniqueness. Every culture is a treasure to humanity. The various ceremonies looked strange to me, but I'm sure we look strange to them too. In this way, cultures are very different but equal at the same time. We must respect the differences and learn from each other.

Someday, I want to see those places and people with my own eyes. I think this is the best way to understand them.

  Sincerely,
